Nicole Scherzinger has opened up for the first time about her departure from “The X Factor.”

In an interview with Access Hollywood correspondent Tim Vincent on Tuesday, as she announced her new role as Global Brand Ambassador for Herbal Essences, Nicole addressed parting ways with the FOX show.

“What happened?” Tim asked.

“What happened? Well, all I know is that I gave 110 percent to that show,” Nicole told Tim in Los Angeles on Tuesday. “I know everybody’s talking about it, they’re saying good, bad, they love me or hate me, but the one thing you can’t say is that I didn’t give it my all.”

Last week, FOX confirmed that Nicole, fellow judge Paula Abdul and show host Steve Jones would not be back for a second season on Simon Cowell’s singing reality competition, and Nicole told Tim she enjoyed her time on the stateside version.

“I had a wonderful experience on the show,” Nicole continued. “I loved being a part of my ‘X Factor’ family. Nothing could obviously prepare me for everything I had to go through, all the emotions and stuff, but I have no regrets. I’ve always believed in never looking back and just moving forward and I’ve got an amazing year to look forward to.”

Steve famously told Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover last year that if he did part ways with “The X Factor,” he’d be calling Nicole in hopes of a possible romance.

Nicole told Tim that Steve hasn’t yet reached out, and suggested that if he did, his chances weren’t particularly good.

“No,” she laughed. “He’s like a brother.”

In addition to her new Herbal Essences Global Brand Ambassador gig, Nicole has a host of music-related endeavors in the works now that she isn’t returning to “The X Factor.”

“I’m kicking off with my European headlining tour, I’m leaving in a few days for that,” she said, joking she was “actually doing choreography moves right before we were filming [this interview].”

In addition to her role in the Will Smith box office vehicle “Men in Black 3,” Nicole said she recently felt her passion reignited for musical theater.

“Last year I sang ‘Phantom of the Opera’ for the royal family and for Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, so that reignited me to want to be back in the theater again, so I think I’m gonna do some more theater work this year,” she said.

“I grew up in musical theater and I’ve always dreamed of playing Christine and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber asked me to play Christine in ‘Phantom of the Opera’ for the royal family at the Royal Variety Show,” Nicole continued. “So I’m gonna get back to theater this year, some more movies and my album is coming out in the U.S. – my ‘Killer Love’ album, so I’m putting the finishing touches on it.”

With her hair constantly at the mercy of curling irons, straighteners and blow dryers, Nicole Scherzinger relies on hydrating products to keep her hair healthy. And now, she’ll likely have a lot of them at her disposable: the singer and former X Factor judge is the newest face of Herbal Essences.

“It’s amazing,” she tells PEOPLE of the new gig. “I have a big grin on my face and I’m glowing. I’m really proud to be partnered with this brand.”

Though Scherzinger calls her “super-long” hair “strong,” she says it’s often hard to take care of because it is subjected to so much heat styling. “I always have to change hairstyles, whether it’s being on TV one minute to being on stage the next, then going to dinner or a meeting,” she explains. “It’s important to keep it hydrated, and use the right products to protect it from the heat.” To that end, she credits Herbal Essences’ Hello Hydration, Hydralicious and Long Term Relationship with locking in moisture and preventing split ends.

When she’s enjoying a day off, Scherzinger generally gives her hair a break, letting it air dry before tossing it up in a bun. But she’s no styling amateur herself: the day of her Herbal Essences shoot, the singer was even giving her glam squad advice. “I know all the mousses, honey,” she shares. “Normally people associate mousse with perms, but with this hair, are you kidding me?! Mousse equals volumizing.”

Scherzinger will appear in Herbal Essences’ print ads as well as commercials — some of which will feature her music. “It’s what I’ve worked so hard for my whole life,” she says. “Not only to have music as my driving force, but to build my brand and be associated with products I believe in — those that are a direct reflection of who I am.”

In Belfast Telegraph’s latest interview, Nicole talks about her upcoming European solo tour, her season on The X Factor, her plans for 2012, and more!

Ahead of her Belfast gig, the former Pussycat Doll tells Maureen Coleman about love, hate mail and why she’s a big fan of Snow Patrol

She was the Pussycat that got the cream — a high-profile new role on the American X Factor, a successful start to her solo career and a pin-up boyfriend in the form of Lewis Hamilton.

But the last year has been a rollercoaster ride for pop-star Nicole Scherzinger. As well as coping with the reality of being an X Factor judge – it’s been alleged she received death threats over one of her decisions – the 33-year-old beauty was devastated when her relationship with Hamilton came to an end. Then, just days after this interview was conducted, news broke that Scherzinger was quitting the show after just one season, along with Welsh host Steve Jones and possibly fellow judge Paula Abdul. Some reports suggest she left of her own accord, others claim she was axed. But the former Pussycat Doll did hint during our transatlantic telephone chat that a return was not on the cards.

Macy Gray, newly signed with 429 Records, is preparing for the release of her stunning new album “COVERED”–a collection of all new recordings of handpicked songs she’s chosen to reinterpret in her own inimitable fashion. Produced by Hal Willner (Lou Reed, Metallica), “COVERED” tackles material largely drawn from indie rock songs from the last decade–interpretations her fans will be familiar with as she’s been performing them live over the years. The album contains biting, dark signature tracks such as Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up” or My Chemical Romance’s “Teenagers” which Gray subversively overhauls into something wholly her own. Also included are short skits featuring J.B. Smoove, Nicole Scherzinger and a guest appearance by Idris Elba. “COVERED” will be released worldwide on 429 Records March 27th. In addition, Macy is planning a worldwide tour and has wrapped filming with director Lee Daniels (Precious) for his forthcoming film ‘The Paperboy” which also stars John Cusack, Zach Effron, Nicole Kidman and Matthew McConaughey. The film will debut @ Cannes in May with confirmed worldwide distribution in October.

“COVERED” Track Listing:

1) Here Comes The Rain Again (Eurythmics)
2) Creep (Radiohead)
3) You Want Them Nervous (skit featuring J.B. Smoove)
4) Smoke 2 Joints (The Toyes)
5) La La La (Teaching The Kids) (featuring Layann Al Saud, Avery Albert, Happy Hinds & Siena Stelber)
6) Teenagers (My Chemical Romance)
7) The Power of Love (featuring Hugh Salk)
8 ) Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)
9) Sail (AWOL Nation)
10) I Try Is Cool And All But…(skit featuring Nicole Scherzinger)
11) Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)
12) Love Lockdown/Buck (Kanye West/Nina Simone)
13) Mel Rap (featuring Mel Hinds)
14) Bubbly (featuring Idris Elba) (Colbie Caillat)
15) Wake Up (Arcade Fire)
16) Really? (skit featuring MC Lyte)

E! is exclusively reporting that Nicole has decided not to return to X Factor next season and will instead focus on her music.

Via E! Online:

Steve Jones isn’t the only one not returning for the second season of X Factor.

I can exclusively reveal that Nicole Scherzinger has also decided not to come back.

“She wants to focus on her music career,” a source said. “She’s spoken to Simon [Cowell] and he’s given her his blessing.”

Scherzinger is currently rehearsing for her upcoming European tour that kicks off next month.

“X Factor took a lot more of her time than she ever expected,” the source said. “She didn’t have any time really to work on her music. She was doing X Factor six days a week.”

Scherzinger’s rep did not immediately comment.

Scherzinger told me in early December that judging was never easy for her. “It breaks my heart and that’s why I’m crying, too,” she said about watching fan favorite Drew Ryniewicz get cut. “I’m not a judge first—I’m an artist first. I’ve been there. I know what it’s like.”

Jones announced earlier today on Twitter that he would be leaving the show.

“I won’t be hosting next seasons X Factor which is a shame but I can’t complain as I’ve had a great time,” Jones writes. “Good luck to everyone on the show.”

His manager John Ferriter later told E! News that the parting is “totally amicable.”

will.i.am has revealed that he has teamed up with Nicole Scherzinger for a classical track on his upcoming album.

The Black Eyed Peas rapper said that the former Pussycat Dolls star is just one of a host of names due to appear on his new record #willpower.

Speaking about his collaboration with Scherzinger, will.i.am told Capital FM: “I made this song with Nicole Scherzinger that you would never expect. It’s classical music.

“I have this girl singing like, ‘Who’s that?’ The internet is very, very powerful – LMFAO have 300 million views on ‘Party Rock Anthem’ – so sometimes you should make things just for the ‘net.”

He added: “This classic piece of music that I did with Nicole, it’s beautiful. That girl sings like I’ve never heard anybody sing like that in pop culture. She is thebomb.com/isthatnicole?”

will.i.am has also confirmed that Britney Spears, Alicia Keys, LMFAO and Shakira are among the other collaborators who will feature on his new material.

His new single ‘T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)’ – which features Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger – is available to download now in the US and on February 5 in the UK.
