In case you forgot, Nicole would like to remind you that she is Hawaiian and swears by coconut oil to help her maintain that flawless skin that we all hate her for. She also shares her tricks for keeping her hair better than your faves.
Check out what she says below:
“When I’m in the UK, I pop into [British store] Boots and pick up [brand] No7 foundation, but my favourite skincare treat is raw coconut oil,ā she explained to InStyle.
āMy aunt extracts it from her coconut tree in Hawaii and sends it to me in jars. It’s anti-bacterial and super-hydrating. You can use it on your body and your face.”
One of the singerās most striking features is her thick, dark mane of hair.
In order to keep her locks glossy, the 34-year-old reaches for her top tried and tested products.
āI’m constantly drying out my hair using straighteners, so I rely on Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo and conditioner to rehydrate my hair,ā she revealed.
āThey contain Hawaiian coconut extract, but being of Hawaiian descent and a real nature girl, I fell in love with it.ā
With her luscious locks, itās no wonder Nicole is the celebrity ambassador for Herbal Essences.
The star revealed an unusual secret to keeping her hair in tip-top condition.
āIt sounds horrible, but I think the secret is not washing it every single day,ā she recently said.
āIn my line of work, itās always the day after thatās the best for shoots and stuff, so I wash it every few days. And when I donāt wash it so much, then I donāt have to cut it as much because I donāt have as many split ends.ā
Nicole shared her ideas on luxury, make-up, fitness and more with Grazia Daily. Check out her responses below:
Ā Ā Ā
1. Luxury isā¦
A nice aromatherapy bath, aromatherapy deep tissue massage, a beautiful dinner with a gorgeous dessert, a movie⦠ I donāt get much down time, so thatās why I appreciate something as simple as a bath.
2. Holidaying in styleā¦
Last year, my boyfriend rented me a boat for my birthday in the south of France. It was really special. Iāve been on boats before, but it was a boat just for me and him for three days. We had a crew of 10 helping us so I was really spoiled ā that was sch-amazing.
3. My favourite luxury itemsā¦
For Christmas, my boyfriend got me new diamond studs. Heās getting props right now! I also have a Hermes bag. I like to pair high street with designers but I love Christian Louboutin, Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli and Alexander Wang.
4. Iām obsessed with onesiesā¦
We have a group of friends and we call ourselves the Megazone so they gave me a Megazone onesie. Iām sad because I want more. They showed me a website where you can design your own onesie. I am all about the onesie, Iām living for the onesie right now. I want to design my own. I want a Boomerang onesie, a Sch-amazing onesieā¦
5. I canāt travel withoutā¦
I was on a flight with Emirates and they had this thing by Temple Spa calledĀ Take A Grip. Ever since then Iāve been in love with it. Itās a tiny little thing, you put it on your face and I swear itās so invigorating and minty. You wash off and itās like youāve literally showered in a bottle. Youāve obviously got to hydrate a lot on the plane, drink a lot of water, get some rest. But if you are on the run, whether youāre on a plane or have a shoot or something, my newest favourite thing are theseĀ Bliss energising eye masks. Those are really good.
6. In my make-up bagā¦
I have this thing calledĀ Jouer. Itās a tinted moisturiser because I donāt like to wear a lot of foundation and itās illuminating as well. Iāve always got an eyeliner, a waterproof black eyeliner. AndĀ DiorshowĀ is good mascara.
7. Keeping in shapeā¦
I like to run. Iām a runner indoors or outdoors. I like to start my day with a good sweat. It puts my head in the right space. Iām liking spinning classes now so I cycle and yoga too.
8. On my riderā¦
I usually have raw almonds, raw cashews, fruits and veggies, lemon and ginger for my voice, Haribo and Cheetos or baked Cheetos. And tea ā lots of teas. I also have white or red wine ā thatās a luxury too!
9. My favourite foodā¦
I miss Mexican food when I come to the UK, Iām not going to lie. We talk about it all the time, but when I go home, I go straight to the Mexican restaurant. Yum city. But normally I can find dessert or chocolate anywhere, Iām a chocolate and cheese girl.
10. Speaking of dessertsā¦
Iām the face of Müller de Luxe Corner desserts (on sale from today). So far, my favourite is the Marc de Champagne, itās yummy! The nod to the champagne in the yoghurt really makes a difference. It tastes richer and itās also got whipping cream in it too which helps! Itās very decedent. I imagine the coconut one is going to be my favourite.
Nicole Scherzinger, welcome to 4music.com! Tell us about your new tune Boomerang (on course to hit No 1 this weekend). Is it true you’ve been waiting ages to release this track?
Well yeah, I got the song last summer and I knew that once X Factor started, I’d be committed to the show and wouldn’t have time to release music. So I have been sitting on it since summer and I just waited. I wanted to wait for the right time. I was so invested andĀ committedĀ to the show and contestants, but now I think it’s a brand new year and this song has a great message to get out there right now. It’s positive, it’s uplifting.
What was it like working with will.i.am on both this track and your forthcoming album too?
He’s bonkers, you know. Like really bonkers. will.i.am and I just had this idea that we were gonna have a load of fun together and record an album together. He’s just… oh god, how can I explain him… He’s like Hawaiian punch and espresso in one. Very sweet, lots of energy, all over the place. He’s just brilliant. He doesn’t over-think, he just goes for it. His energy is so great to be around.
So is the album complete or are you still working on bits?
Yeah, I’m still working on the album. So far all the songs I’ve done lend themselves to big dance anthems – really fun, really energetic, you know. They’re energizing, I like to say. Good to work out to and get you motivated for the day ahead. But I’m still in the studio so I’ll make sure I have a good mixture on the album, do some more personal songs too.
We’ve obviously got to talk X Factor…
Hell yeah, let’s go.
Right first of all, there’s still no word on your return to the judging panel for 2013?
Ha! Exactly. I don’t know. There’s been no talks. I really don’t know.
But you did really enjoy it last year and would be up for it again, right?
Well, I didn’t just enjoy it but it was one of the proudest moments for me so far in my career. Just to be a part of such a show and having success through mentoring and leading my contestants, it was amazing. I would dance around with the idea of coming back, you know. We still have to have the talks but I gave it my all. The proof is in the pudding, I gave it my all.
Who would make up your ideal X Factor judging line-up?
Ha!! Oh my god… I don’t know…
We won’t count fellow judges Tulisa, Gary or Louis, you’ve now got a clean slate to create an entirely new panel…Ā
(screams) OH MY GOD! I love this game. I’d have like Jack Black because he loves music. I adore Tenacious D. I feel like me and Jack Black would have lots of fun. Maybe we’ll throw will.i.am in there too. He’d be good. But what other female? Someone who is fun… Who is fun?
Nicole Scherzinger feels like she has “muscles of steel” when she sticks up for someone.
The US songstress is very vocal when it comes to bullying. Nicole insists she’s a “very happy person” until someone with a nasty nature riles her.
“Yeah. Mean people. I don’t like mean people. I don’t like people abusing other people. It’s uncalled for. And I was the girl who would stand up for people being bullied in school. I feel like I’m like ten-feet tall and have muscles of steel when actually I’m this scrawny girl – [but still] like, I could take you on!” she laughed in an interview with British magazine Heat.
Nicole opened up about her “normal” life in the interview.
The raven-haired beauty leads a very down-to-earth lifestyle when she’s not mixing with showbiz types and attending glitzy red carpet events.
“Oh my gosh, yes!” she exclaimed when asked if she has ever eaten cold pizza for breakfast. “And they told us in school growing up that if you eat cold pizza before an exam it helps your brain work better.
“I just ate cold pizza last week actually because I was working so much on the house and I didn’t want to leave so I ordered pizza and then had it for breakfast the next morning!”
Nicole was a judge on The X Factor UK last year, where her act James Arthur triumphed. This year’s panel is yet to be confirmed but the star would love to return.
“We haven’t had any official talks yet, obviously I had a shamazing time last year. It doesn’t hurt that I broke all the records, but the work spoke for itself and I couldn’t have asked for a better year with my boys. So we’ll have to see what happens this year,” she revealed.
We reported yesterday that Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell were involved in some sort of secret project with Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and this mornign we have finally gotten some details on what turned out to be a new show.
The X Factor stars are to join Myleene Klass and Mel C for a one off TV special which will celebrate the 40 year career of the acclaimed composer and TV star.
The 90 minute show will include a sexy dance number from his hit West End musical Bombay Dreams and as well as the X Factor stars and Spice Girl, Denise Van Outen will put her history with the Lord ā who sacked her from one of his BBC shows a few years ago ā behind her and perform a duet with fellow Strictly Come Dancing star Kimberley Walsh. It really will be a star studded event.
Sheās late. Forty-five minutes to be exact and the word ādivaā flashes unkindly through my mind.
I am standing in the lobby of one of Londonās smartest hotels, gazing hopefully out of the window when, at last, a huge black Rolls Royce pulls up outside.
A diva, of sorts, gets out but bizarrely itās not Nicole Scherzinger but her X Factor boss Simon Cowell who breezes past me towards the lifts.
Five minutes later a people carrier arrives and Scherzinger steps out looking every inch the star in a figure-hugging black and white dress with Eighties-style, big curly hair.
Having stopped to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans, she apologises profusely for the delay and we head up in the lift to her room.
āNo way!ā she gasps, when I tell her who has just preceded her.
āWhatās he doing here in my hotel?ā She immediately whips out her iPhone from a dangerously expensive-looking handbag and starts texting Cowell.
āSimon is both pompous and aloof and a sweet cuddly teddy bear at the same time,ā she grins having read his response. We are now settled on a sofa in her spacious room.
āIām the angel on one shoulder,ā she continues, āand on the other side is the devil, which is a reflection of himself in the mirror.
āSeriously though, thereās something about Simon. He is absolutely someone who I would turn to for advice about the music business because in a way he has mentored me.
‘He always jokes that Iām ruthless but if I am I think Iāve learnt that from him. We have a lot in common because Iāve worked really hard to get where I am today and I know that he has too.ā
Nicole reveals that she was initially offered a demo to record what we all now know as Rihanna’s “We Found Love.” She decided to pass on it due to the overexposure of dance music at the time. Read below to see what other mega pop hits Nicole also passed on.
Nicole Scherzinger has revealed that she was offered ‘We Found Love’ before Rihanna.
The singer admitted that she was reluctant to record the hit as she had released a lot of dance music, and lost out on the track after deliberating for too long.
“I passed on ‘We Found Love’,” Scherzinger told Notion magazine.”I’ve got the demo of that song and I was busy at the time. They’d sent me a few dance tracks and I wasn’t able to get to them and I was like, ‘Oh there’s so much dance and I want to take a break from it’.”She added: “That was my fault. I slept on it.”
Scherzinger also confessed that she passed on recording Gnarls Barkley’s ‘Crazy’, and that the Pussycat Dolls were once offered Lady GaGa’s debut hit ‘Just Dance’.
